Hey there! This is nicoleb (or GingerIceCube, depending on which site I’m on). I supply scans over at JB’s Gallery and occasionally help with translation stuff (I’m hoping to get more active around that area, but real life’s been a real douche). These are the scans from the 50th volume, full-color booklet from Pocket Monsters Special. I scanned it a while ago, but it took a while to get things in order. Feel free to link, share, translate, etc., but please give credit. I bought two copies because I wanted one to keep and one to take apart for the purposes of a clean scan.

I’d like to heartily thank MangaReaderX for all his help in bringing me back into the scanslation community, giving me info and help, websites to upload on, and setting everything up neatly for this post (I’d have had no clue what to do without help, LOL). I’d also like to thank my mum for debinding the book for me, far better than I ever could. Who knew her interest in scrapbooking would actually come in handy? ;D

Anyway, have a swell evening (it’s 10:15 PM where I am XD)! *Goes to chain Shinies in Platinum like a boss*

  1. If you like what you see here, consider buying the Japanese volume 50 + artbook bundle. I imported it and it was worth it. You can get it from CDJapan – which is generally the cheapest way to import it from Japan – or from Amazon.co.jp using this guide. If you live in the US, Singapore, Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia or Thailand the cheapest way to get it is to just order it from your local Kinokuniya website / store.

As you might have noticed unfortunately none of Mato’s colour artwork – which were mostly only published in magazines – are included in this artbook. Anyway, you can find some of it here.

In case you are wondering what minus is and why we used it instead of imgur the answer is simple. When uploading images to imgur from a free account the images are compressed until they are 5MB or smaller. minus is another image hosting service and they allow images up to 15MB to be uploaded. So by using minus instead of imgur we only had to convert one 15.6MB PNG image (the combined cover scan) to JPG to meet the requirements to be uploaded. (It looks pretty much the same though and the original is in the zip file). If anyone has imgur Pro and want to upload the scans, go ahead, send the album link via a comment on this page and we will add it to the release post. There is no reason to upload it to imgur without a Pro account though since free imgur accounts will compress some the scans to shit, so just use the minus link.
TL;DR: minus is better quality-wise than free imgur accounts.

  2. Thanks a lot! The quality is really good! I’m glad it hasn’t any color fault.
I really hope that way there will be a translation someday 🙂
